Your Project Checklist

  • Check whether the project needs planning permission and submit plans at the earliest possible date.
     
  • Are there any local planning restrictions that may affect your choice of roofing material?  Contact your local planning office to find out.
     
  • Is the original roof over 50 years old? You should check the condition of your existing roof to decide whether it makes sense to replace the whole structure now.
     
  • Can you find a modern tile that matches the existing tiles on your roof (or blends well with neighbouring houses)?
     
  • Will the roof be built to the standards required by BS 5250 (this is a standard that suggests ways to avoid condensation, which can be a problem in cold roof spaces).
     
  • Is the roofing contractor a member of Redland Select?
