Know your fascia from your soffit

Roofing has many terms that you don’t often come across.  Your roofing contractor will explain, of course, but fascias and soffits cause a lot of confusion.

The fascia is the section that hangs down below the lowest line of roof tiles – usually you fix the gutter to it.

The Soffit is the horizontal surface that fills in the gap between the bottom of the fascia and the wall of the house.
