Is my roof covered by a guarantee?

To be completely covered, you need to have a product guarantee and a warranty on workmanship.

If you live in a new house, then it may have a 10 year NHBC warranty to cover product and workmanship.  Alternatively the building contractor will have a warranty on workmanship, but it is unlikely to be as long as 10 years.

If your house has been re-roofed recently, the contractor should offer you a guarantee for workmanship.  All roofs using a Redland roofing system will have a 10 year product guarantee.  Contractors who are members of a quality scheme such as TrustMark, NFRC, Competent Roofer Scheme or FMB MasterBond will also have warranties on workmanship, although they will not all be 10 years long.  If any roof is 10 years old or less, it’s always worth checking as it may well be covered.
